Getting organised for 2020

Yep, you heard. It’s November 2019 and I’m already thinking about 2020.

Yep, you heard. It’s November 2019 and I’m already thinking about 2020. When you run a small business, especially a creative one like mine, planning for Christmas starts in August. So by the time November rolls around it’s basically Christmas, which means it’s practically new year.

At the start of the year I set myself the challenge of producing a new print design each month – you can take a look back at my original blog post from January here. And because this is me we’re talking about, each month I painted a different animal.

2020 calendar of awesome animals

One of my motivators for this challenge was that I’ve always wanted to produce a calendar of my paintings as a Christmas present for friends and family. Flash forward 11 months and I’ve only bloody gone and done it – my 2020 calendar of awesome animals is back from the printers and on sale in my Etsy shop (and selling really well).

Hand on heart, this is probably the only new year’s resolution I’ve ever kept. I also kept the one about sending a monthly email newsletter, which you can sign up for here.

Looking ahead

So now I’m starting to fill in my own copy of the calendar and looking ahead to my goals for 2020. I’ve got loads of ideas floating around in my head and sketches for new paintings in my notebooks. My early ideas include personalised prints, expanding my range of greetings cards and another calendar for 2021. And painting more animals, obviously.
